Hopefully what I provide here is not the same old same old worksheets. The intent is to create worksheets
that are a little more fun to do. One thing I noticed is that color and graphics make a big difference the
younger they are.
Sometimes, it is not so much the worksheet but the task that is fun and allows them to be very creative.
This is all a work in progress, but others my find them useful or inspire them to come up with some really
cool ideas.
A simple grahpical worksheet for writing paragraphs with the correct structure of main idea and
supporting details.
A set of four grahpical worksheets for writing the four main types of paragraphs with the correct structure
of main idea and supporting details. The worksheets also provide some helful hints. There is a set
using pumpkins and a set using cookies.
For example, for the cookie worksheets, the student will be asked
to first explain how to bake a chocolate chip cookie; then, describe the chocolate chip cookie they made; then
tell a story about that chocolate chip cookie; and finally, persuade someone that the chocolate chip cookie is
yucky!
It seems to be hard to find a child who likes summarizing. I have yet to find one who does. However,
all is not lost. Finding the "Somebody Wanted But So" techinque has made such a difference. It can be
used for both fiction and non-fiction. It is so easy to use, even the youngest kids get it and even,
dare I say it, like it!
Various worksheets on various topics such as dramatic devices, vocabulary, etc.
Learning about food webs? Before you build those bug or plant terrariums, plan them out with these simple worksheets.
